We’re coming off an impressive 5-1 NFL Sunday and are back with another set of free picks to continue this win streak into Week 3.
This week I’m not falling in love with any of these games by any means but I do have a solid 4 game line up of two 1 unit plays and two half unit plays which I consider to have significant value.
The games I like the most are ones where I’m going against the public on home underdogs.
Texans +7.5 -135 (+7 -125 is up at 5 Dimes, I’m buying the ½ point for 10 cents)
Falcons +4.5 -115 (I bet the posted line at Bodog, If could of found +4 -106 or better I would of took it but couldn’t find it anywhere I was funded).
2 other games we are going to go with just ½ unit bets on are:
Jets -3 -105 (Pinnacle)
Packers +6 -110 (Bodog)
That’s the full line up for now. I might add some half time plays or a Sunday night play so keep an eye out for that. Just a heads up its unlikely I will be betting the Monday night game, but might..
Here are some cheat sheet notes on why I like each team I picked:
Texans: This team is looking more and more like a division contender after their 2-0 start. The Colts defense while improved is still not truly amongst the tops in the leagues. Mix this in with the home underdog factor and the history the Colts have of playing division games close (decided by 7 points or less most often) I like the Texans a lot at +7.5. With -135 we need this to win 57.4% of the time for this to be profitable. Seeing as home underdogs historically cover around 55% of the time and were are at 1.5 points better than the consensus line which fully crosses the 7. I like it.
Falcons: They have historically done well against the Panthers. They are finally home after starting the season on the road. Carolina is kind of a big time question mark this year. They blew a nice lead last week and now head on the road to play a division game. I like getting +4.5 her a lot on the home dog and consider this a solid play already, considering the Panthers are the BSP’s pick I like this even more.
Jets: Miami rarely covers the spread against the Jets and Pennington should be back under center for this game. The Jets have showed some life this season, I really thought their offense looked solid against the Patriots, even though the final score did not reflect it because the Pats were just absolutely lights out on both sides of the ball in that game. Last week after falling behind to Baltimore they had a good chance to take that game into OT but failed to complete a great late game comeback. Miami does not even belong in the same league as the Ravens or Dolphins, I like the Jets, who have showed sparks they might be coming together, to bounce back strong and dominate this weak Dolphins team.
Packers: One of the big reasons I loved the Pats last week so strongly is because the Chargers have not proven themselves. I think it absurd to give any team that has an entirely new set of coaches respect because of what they accomplished a previous year. The Packers are either getting some major disrespect or odds makers are still googly-eyed over the Chargers. This spread makes no sense to me and this is Farve’s Cinderella year, Okay well I don’t believe that last part but it sounded good. I’m betting this one for home dog, to much respects, not enough respect, and fade the public reasons. Those are 4 reasons that are as good as any when it comes to the NFL.
That’s all for now regarding Sunday games. My overall Record in the NFL this season is 6-4 on the season.
Quick Plug for Free NFL Contests:
There is a lot of money to be made through these free NFL contests. Last week I benefited greatly for them as I went 14-2 or 13-3 (depending on what the Lions game line was set at, some contest had -2.5 while others had -3.5) and picked up a lot of weekly prizes. If you’re not familiar with free contest you should really check out our Free NFL Contest page.
